I AM A SUPER SENIOR!

Gwen came to AAMR as part a rescue from a serious hoarding case in SW VA.  She is beautiful and sweet as can be, even though she can be a little shy when you first meet.  She is happy and wants to be loved, but before coming into rescue she had never done simple things like going outside to go potty or to play or like walking on a leash.  She is a smart and loving little girl, and she really deserves a new family who will love her forever.  Could that be you?

Approximate age/birthdate:  born ~2011

Weight/size: around 12 pounds

Housebroken:  YES as long as you do your part and take her out early
 
Crate trained:  Mostly … she will have accidents if left too long

Personality:  very shy and submissive until she gets to know and trust you, sometimes a little unsure around new dogs … especially large ones

Energy level:  low to medium but she still has bursts of high energy when she gets excited

Fenced yard required?:   YES (physical fence preferred - not underground)

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk:  YES
 
Obedience training:  No

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK … gets a little stressed at first         

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES

Social with cats: has not been around cats in foster care but she would probably chase them

Good with children: has not been tested but would not recommend having her with small, young children

Adoption donation: $100

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Gwen picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
