If you’re looking for a sweet, spunky senior, Trixie may just be your girl.  She’s not at all sure what ‘senior’ means! She acts like 10 years old could be the new 5 years old, although she really does make a cute couch potato too.  So far the only age-related issue that she is showing is some vision diminished by cataract formation.

Trixie is an unassuming little lady who makes a great companion.  She would love to have a nice fenced yard so she could explore and sunbathe when the weather is nice, but if it’s too hot or too cold, wet, or dark outside, she wants to be snuggled up inside!  Oh - and she’s a beggar and food rogue! You’ve been warned.  She is such a sweet girl and she really deserves a loving family of her very own.

Weight/size: 26 lbs  

Housebroken:  YES (as long as you do your part and let her outside regularly)

Crate trained:  YES (not her favorite place to be but she does fine!)

Personality: sweet, curious, independent, doxi-stubborn

Energy level:  medium

Fenced yard required?:  YES … definitely preferred because she will follow her nose … we think there is some beagle nose in the mix

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk:  YES

Obedience training:  NO

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK  

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES – she has always lived with at least one other dog and gets along with foster friends

Social with cats:  Doesn’t pay a lot of attention to the cats

Good with children:  Will be fine with older, respectful children

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Trixie picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
