About Trip

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: White with Tan, Yellow or Fawn

Hi … my name is Trip and here are some things you need to know about me!  After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online.

Those ears! Those feet! Who in the world cannot love a basset hound?  And my foster mom says I am a super cute basset hound!  I can be a bit of a wild child but it never lasts long.  I’m too busy exploring everything to move too fast all the time!  And oh-so-smart!  Foster mom says I am such a good boy and such a smart boy.  I am so happy and I love life.  I love having other pups to play with, but sometimes they really don’t appreciate all my energy.  I hope my forever family has a nice fenced yard and plenty of time to play with me!

Approximate age/birthdate:  10 25 2017

Weight/size:  ~32 lbs (and still a bit on the thin side)

Housebroken:  YES (as long as you do your part and take him out often)

Crate trained:  YES

Personality:  Goofy, happy, not a care in the world, busy, curious.  Being a hound, he will not be a great apartment/condo/townhouse/duplex dweller.  He is a boy with a BIG voice and he isn’t afraid to use it!

Energy level:  Can go from Zero to Wild Child in a matter of seconds!  And just as quickly he can go back to sitting quietly like a true gentleman.

Fenced yard required?:   YES (a physical fence … no underground or invisible fencing)… unless you want to walk him 5 miles a day!  He needs exercise!  Remember bassets are working dogs!  And he loves to run around, nose to the ground, and he cannot be allowed to do that off-leash in an unfenced area.

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk with manners:  He still pulls and is very strong … another reason you want to have a fenced yard (physical fence, no underground fence)

Obedience training:  Taking him to an obedience class will benefit him and will be a great bonding experience for you and him.

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK but he will talk to you the whole ride

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES (although some do not appreciate his rough and tumble play style)

Social with cats: NO CATS

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.  He will be ‘too much’ for younger children.

Adoption donation: $250

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Trip picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.
