Sweet Nikki is just a bundle of happiness wrapped in dark chocolate/black fur.  Her long dachshund (mix) body, short legs and big feet are just too cute for words.  Just watching her run around acting goofy will make you smile.  True to her dachshund heritage, this little girl is a powerful little package with plenty of energy for long walks, hikes and play sessions!  Nikki wants a great new family who will include her in the fun family activities.  She enjoys other dogs, and she really loves being with people.  Are you ready to give this busy girl lots of love forever?

Weight/size: ~18 pounds

Housebroken:  YES

Crate trained:  YES

Personality:  happy, energetic, playful, loveable

Energy level:  medium with bursts of high

Fenced yard required?:   YES … definitely preferred so Nikki has a safe place to get plenty of exercise off-leash. Nikki should never be allowed outside a fenced area without being on a leash.

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk with manners:  YES (will still pull when she gets excited)

Obedience training:  NO

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK     

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES.  She may be ‘too much’ for older or smaller or more chill dogs.   

Social with cats:  NO CATS

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.  Her energy may be overwhelming for younger children.

Adoption donation:  $175

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Nikki picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
