What a cute, bouncy little girl Miss Sassy is! She has been through a lot of changes and she is still just sweet as can be. She lost her favorite person to health issues, went to live with another family member who felt she would be better off in a home with a family who had more time to spend with her. So she came to AAMR and she has been a sweetheart. She was diagnosed with Lyme disease and has been treated.
Sassy would love to be loved by some special people who had lots of time to spend with her. She will do best with a fenced yard so she could explore safely, but she will still love some leash-walks. She is OK with other dogs, but she really prefers the company of people!
Approximate age/birthdate: born ~ July 2012
Weight/size: 20 lbs
Housebroken: YES (as long as you do your part and take her out often)
Crate trained: YES
Personality: sweet, loving, a bit anxious sometimes (we think because of so many changes in her life)
Energy level: medium
Fenced yard required?: A physically fenced yard is needed (no electric/underground fence). She still has a high prey drive and will run after squirrels or anything fluffy that moves in her line of vision ... and she is strong enough to take a leash right out of your hands!
Does he/she jump fences? NO (but we have been told she would dig out of a kennel if left alone for a while)
Leash walk with manners: YES
Obedience training: No, but she does listen well (unless she is chasing something)
Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK
Spayed/neutered: YES
Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES
Microchipped: YES
Social with other dogs: YES
Social with cats: Has not been around cats in foster care but we think she might just be curious about them (and would probably chase them if they ran)
Good with children: Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.
Adoption donation: $100
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Sassy picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Please feel free to email
