Hi … my name is Candy! Read my bio to find out everything you need to know about me.
If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online.
Candy, Candy … sweet as Candy! This adorable little Chiweenie girl came to AAMR with a sister, a brother and their Mom. The ‘kids’ were about 10 weeks old when they arrived, so they were no longer dependent on Mom and their personalities were beginning to shine. While still very social and outgoing, Candy seems to be the most cautious of the three. A typical puppy, she is full of wiggles and kisses. If you’re interested in adding a lot of activity to your family, a puppy might be perfect for you. Like all babies, puppies do require lots of extra attention and training/teaching and with love and positive reinforcement, Candy could become your favorite ‘kid’!
Approximate age/birthdate: February 18, 2022
Weight/size: guesstimated adult size 18 – 25 lbs
Housebroken: Working on it. With adopting a puppy comes housetraining duties for the new family!
Crate trained: YES, although she will still have potty accidents in the crate when not taken outside frequently
Personality: sweet, happy, social, energetic, very loving and wiggly
Energy level: medium with frequent bursts of high
Fenced yard required?: Definitely preferred – Candy would love having a safe place that she could run and explore off-leash. She should never be off-leash outside a fenced area. She can move very quickly and if she gets away, she will probably be more interested in exploring than coming back to her person when called.
Does he/she jump fences? NO
Leash walk with manners: She is learning to walk on leash. She (and most dogs) should always have a well-fitting harness and a fixed-length (never a retractable leash) leash when walking outside a fenced area.
Obedience training: NO but she is ready for a puppy class for socialization and basic obedience.
Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK although she may be a little nervous and may potty in her crate
Spayed/neutered: YES
Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES
Microchipped: YES
Social with other dogs: YES
Social with cats: Has not been around cats in foster care, but we bet she would try her best to get a cat to play with her.
Good with children: Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up. Remember puppies can’t tell puppy toys from ‘human kid’ toys!
Adoption donation: $250
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Candy picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
