Meet Nora ... one of the most special little girls to come through AAMR in a long time. A cute, spicy, precious, smart, wrap-you-around-her-little paw kinda girl.
When Nora came to us mid-August, 2024, there was just 'something' about her. And very quickly it hit us that we knew exactly where she needed to be, but we knew it was not going to be easy to get her there.
Losing a beloved pet is always hard on pet parents. Grief over this loss is different for everyone and when you have had a pet that has been ill for a while, one that you have tried to move Heaven and Earth to care for, it feels especially tragic when the day you knew was coming actually gets here and you have to say 'until we meet again.' And this was the exact situation, a grieving family, people who we were blessed to become friends with over the years, where we were hoping Nora would be able to go. It just felt like where she needed to be. This family had adopted their beloved Chester from AAMR on Feb 8, 2020 and they had 4 1/2 interesting, loving years with him because he was quite a character. He was 7 years old when they adopted him, and despite all their efforts, his little body just gave out on him. Chester was indeed the Prince of the Manor, and his people were the most favorite part of his life.
Long story short, with a lot of prayer, a bit of bribery, and LOTS of pictures and stories about Nora being sent to these speical people, they finally agreed to meet her on October 8, 2024! I was praying that once Nora tilted her cute little head, smiled (yes, she can smile), and started giving kisses, they wouldn't be able to resist! Prayers are answered and now our sweet little Nora is living her best life with some of our favorite people!
