Here are some very important things you need to know about Howie
HOWIE & MAX HAD A GREAT VALENTINE'S DAY BECAUSE THEY WERE ADOPTED BY DAVE AND SUZAN BRYAN!
Approximate age/birthdate: ~ September 2011
Weight/size: adult size will probably be around 10 lbs
Housebroken: working on it … he’s still a puppy … he is newspaper trained and is beginning to give signs ahead of time when he needs to go potty
Crate trained: he has been crated for short periods of time but will still have potty accidents in the crate if left too long
Personality: sweet, outgoing, loving, friendly, a little yappy at times
Energy level: medium
Fenced yard required?: YES It is always best for any dog to have a safe place to play off-leash. These little ones can move faster than most of us, and he loves to run around and pick up sticks and chase balls.
Does he/she jump fences? NO
Leash walk: YES
Obedience training: 5 – 6 months is the best time to start serious obedience training – he understands ‘no’ and ‘good boy’
Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK
Spayed/neutered: YES
Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES
Microchipped: YES
Social with other dogs: YES
Social with cats: YES – he likes to try to get our cats to play
Good with children: will be best with older, more respectful children
Adoption fee: $175
Howie is a sweet little cutie pie. He has Chihuahua facial features and longer hair so we’re not really sure what the mix is! A guess would be that he may have come from a backyard breeding operation, but he and two others were dropped off at the pound. He is a pretty happy-go-lucky little guy but he is all boy. He loves to snuggle but he’s not a ‘dress up doll.’ He has done really well learning to walk on leash and seems to really enjoy it!
If you think Howie might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org, click on Forms/Application and complete your adoption application online.
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have 10 or more applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Howie picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com or call 434 841 0411 or 540 297 1590 if you have additional questions.
