Hunter was picked up as a stray and brought into an area Animal Control facility. He was found wandering on a major highway dragging a leash and he looked like he had been recently groomed. But, after more than a week no one had reported him missing or had come looking for him, so he joined team AAMR!
First order of business was to get him checked out and get some much-needed dental work done. He lost 15 teeth, but boy did he feel better after that! He is heartworm negative and has been updated on vaccines. As is common with older shih-tzus, Hunter has dry eyes and he does need to have prescription eye drops twice each day (approx $50/month). He is very good when getting his drops …. Just a joy to have around. He’s very friendly, but not demanding. He LOVES to eat and he likes to play with other small dogs. He’s a very spry, young 10 years old. What he wants most of all is a family who will love him and take care of him forever!
If you think Hunter might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org, click on Forms/Application link on the left side of the home page and complete your adoption application online.
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Hunter picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
Please feel free to email us at weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.
